IAB membership grades (from 1st
April 2011)
An Associate
is entitled to use the designatory letters AIAB
To apply for this grade of membership you must hold,
as a minimum, one of the following IAB qualifications or equivalent
qualifications from other awarding or professional bodies:
L2 Certificate in Bookkeeping QCF
L2 Award in Manual Bookkeeping QCF
L2 Certificate in Applied Bookkeeping QCF
L2 Award in Computerised Bookkeeping QCF
L2 Certificate in Payroll QCF
L2 Award in Practical Payroll QCF
L2 Award in Computerised Payroll QCF
L2 Award in Applied Payroll QCF
L3 Certificate in Payroll QCF
L3 Award in Computerised Payroll QCF
L2 Certificate in Computerised Accounting for Business QCF
L3 Award in Costing and Pricing QCF
No practical experience is required for this level of membership.

To apply for this
grade of membership you must hold as a minimum one of the following
IAB qualifications or equivalent qualifications from other awarding or
professional bodies:
L3 Certificate in Bookkeeping QCF
L3 Certificate in Manual Bookkeeping QCF
L3 Certificate in Applied Bookkeeping QCF
L3 Award in Computerised Bookkeeping QCF
L3 Certificate in Computerised Accounting for Business QCF
No practical experience is required for this level of membership.
A Fellow is
entitled to use both the designatory letters FIAB and the title
of ‘Registered Book-keeper®
To apply for this
grade of membership you must hold as a minimum the following IAB
qualifications or equivalent qualifications from other awarding or
professional bodies:
L3 Certificate in Bookkeeping QCF or L3 Certificate in Manual Bookkeeping QCF
plus L3 Award in Computerised Bookkeeping QCF or L3 Certificate in Computerised Accounting for Business QCF
plus two years appropriate practical bookkeeping experience
Or
L3 Certificate in Applied Bookkeeping QCF
plus two years appropriate practical bookkeeping experience
Or
L3 Certificate in Bookkeeping QCF or L3 Certificate in Manual Bookkeeping QCF
plus two years appropriate practical bookkeeping experience,
which must include at least 12 months experience of working with a
commercial accounting software package (in lieu of the IAB Level 3
Diploma in Computerised Accounting).
COMPLIANCE WITH THE ANTI MONEY-LAUNDERING LEGISLATION 2007
The IAB has been granted Supervisory Status by HM Treasury. The AML Regulations 2007 make it mandatory for those in practice to apply for and hold either an IAB Certificate of Supervision or Certificate of Compliance to ensure their practice is monitored and regulated by the IAB in line with this legislation. Exemption may be granted to members registered with another Supervisory Body, please contact the Membership Department for further advice.
