Membership Grades  

There are three grades of membership

Associate – this entitles the use of the designatory letters AIAB

To apply for this grade of membership you must hold one of the following IAB qualifications or equivalent:

• IAB Level 2 Certificate in Book-keeping (both units)
• IAB Level 2 Certificate in Computerised Book-keeping
• IAB Level 2 Certificate in Manual Payroll (both units)
• IAB Level 2 Certificate in Computerised Payroll
• IAB Level 3 Certificate in Book-keeping (both units)
• IAB Level 3 Diploma in Computerised Book-keeping
• IAB Level 3 Diploma in Small Business Financial Management
• IAB Level 3 Certificate in Manual Payroll (both units)
• IAB Level 3 Certificate in Computerised Payroll

No practical experience is required for this level of membership.

Member – this entitles the use of designatory letters MIAB

To apply for this grade of membership you must hold one of the following IAB qualifications or equivalent:

• IAB Level 3 Certificate in Book-keeping (both units)
• IAB Level 3 Diploma in Computerised Book-keeping

Fellow – this entitles the use of the designatory letters FIAB

To apply for this grade of membership you must hold the following IAB qualifications or equivalent:

• IAB Level 3 Diploma in Accounting and Advanced Book-keeping (both units)
  and
• IAB Level 3 Diploma in Computerised Book-keeping

Two years appropriate practical book-keeping experience is required.

OR

• IAB Level 3 Diploma in Accounting and Advanced Book-keeping (both units)
  and
• two years practical experience one of which must be working with a commercial accounting software package.

Holders of the IAB Level 3 Payroll qualifications or equivalent

Those Associates, Members and Fellows of the IAB who hold IAB Level
3 qualifications in Payroll (or equivalents) may also apply to add the designatory letters mpf or fpf (to those letters that they are already entitled to use) providing they have the necessary work experience.

mpf - To apply for these designatory letters you must hold one of the following IAB qualifications or equivalent and have one year of practical experience.

• IAB Level 3 Certificate in Manual Payroll (both Units)
• IAB Level 3 Certificate in Computerised Payroll

fpf - To apply for these designatory letters you must hold both of the following IAB qualifications or equivalent and have two years practical experience.

• IAB Level 3 Certificate in Manual Payroll (both Units)
  and
• IAB Level 3 Certificate in Computerised Payroll
