IAB qualifications in Computerised Accounting for Business

The IAB and Sage have teamed up to provide what we believe is a compelling combination in a single ‘package’, available now through the IAB. For a single fee per learner, the package includes:

  • Registration for an innovative IAB qualification, accredited to the QCF by Ofqual, in Computerised Accounting for Business (at levels 1, 2 or 3), eligible for Learner Responsive funding for both 16-18 and Adults in England.
  • Sage Learning Materials, published by Sage and approved by the IAB as being tailored to meet the content and assessment requirements for these qualifications.
  • A copy of Sage 50 Accounts Professional, free to use for 180 days.
  • An additional certificate issued by Sage, to further endorse the competence demonstrated by those who achieve the IAB qualification.

Benefits to learners, employers and IAB training providers

  • Nationally recognised IAB accredited qualifications.
  • Endorsement and additional certification by Sage – confirming their confidence in the skills of those that achieve the qualifications
  • Use of Sage 50 Accounts Professional and Sage Learning Materials included in the single IAB qualification fee.
  • Sage courses with real added value – where training providers choose to offer their learners this compelling IAB/Sage combination.

Qualifications overview:

IAB Level 1 Award in Computerised Accounting for Business (QCF)

Suitable for learners wanting to learn the basic routines relating to the entry of bookkeeping transactions into a Sage computerised accounting system. It is expected that the learner may already be employed within a business and/or commencing their studies from a point of no previous experience. It is possible that learners may undertake to study for this qualification in a classroom situation or at a distance.

IAB Level 2 Certificate in Computerised Accounting for Business (QCF)

Suitable for learners who have some experience of working with Sage but little prior experience of manual, double entry bookkeeping. Manual and Computerised accounting principles are brought together so the learner can process and understand the primary transactions within a business. This larger qualification reflects the expansion in the use of Sage software.

IAB Level 3 Certificate in Computerised Accounting for Business (QCF)

This qualification takes the learner through both the manual and computerised aspects of the preparation of management reports and financial statements. It deals with the use of the software in greater depth and covers more than the day to day transactions a business has, for example fixed assets, stock and doubtful debts. On line reporting for VAT is included as well as cash management, and different types of business organisations. A prior working knowledge of Sage and double entry bookkeeping to Level 2 standard would be required before starting to study at this level.

If you wish to find out more or you are a college or training provider interested in offering courses leading to these innovative qualifications, please contact the IAB office.
