- Centres or self-study learners may wish to ask for an assessment to be remarked following the publication of results – This is known as a Results Enquiry.
- A Results Enquiry must be submitted before the learner’s results have been moderated.
- However where a result has already been moderated the Centre or self-study learner may instead submit an Appeal.
- No charge is made for an enquiry about results, but fees are payable for an appeal.
- (Please refer to the current IAB fees list for more details. Note: If the outcome of an appeal against assessment is an improved result, then then the fee will be refunded.)
- Appeals or enquiries will only be accepted by electronic submission of this completed form. A separate form must be used for each submission.
- Where a Centre is making an appeal on behalf of a leaner the submission must be accompanied by written permission of the learner.
- Learners should be aware that the outcome of the appeal or enquiry is that the result may be:
- Confirmed to be correct, there will be no change in the result.
- Changed, the final mark may be higher or lower than the original result.
- Centres acting on behalf of Learners must ensure these outcomes are discussed with the Learner before proceeding. The full appeal policy is available to view on our website.
Considerations
Results Enquiries
- Results Enquiries must be submitted within 10 working days of receipt of the results.
Appeals
- Centres offering IAB qualifications are expected to have their own appeal policy and procedures in place. These procedures must be fully exhausted before any appeal is made to the IAB.
- The centre must submit an appeal to the IAB within 20 working days of receipt of the related assessment decision(s) or following receipt of the result of a Results Enquiry outcome.
- Appeals shall be considered where there is prima facie evidence indicating that one or more of the following grounds are met.
- There was bias, prejudice or discrimination as defined by the Equality Act 2010.
- IAB did not apply procedures consistently or that procedures were not followed properly and fairly.
- There was a substantial procedural irregularity in the conduct of the proceedings involved and/or the determination of the outcome being decided.
- There was an administrative error which has significantly affected the determination of the outcome being decided.
(Please indicate below which grounds your appeal relies upon)
Evidence
- Evidence to support an appeal must be attached. The IAB will return incomplete applications to the centre for completion and, as such, this will delay the process.
- Evidence is not required in respect of Results Enquiries
