  • I would like to take this opportunity of thanking you for all your help and advice when I recently joined the International Association of Bookkeepers.   I was kept fully informed of all stages of my application and on the acceptance of my membership I was sent a certificate of membership along with a great leather folder of information. I have also needed the assistance of the compliance team when trying to move my supervision for money laundering to the IAB after ...

  • I would highly recommend distance learning as a great way to study. You need to be self-motivated but that’s great for me and it gives me the flexibility to fit studying around everything else. I can truly study at my own pace and spend more time on the areas that I find more challenging, rather than having to go at the speed of the tutor. Groves Training Services is a really committed provider which offers an excellent all round service. They have experienced, understa ...

  • There are several things I like about being a member of the IAB, but I think the most important one to me personally is that the organisation is about people.  Helping people, training people and encouraging people to be great bookkeepers. I'm certain my business wouldn't have survived it's first year without their guidance and reassurance.

Continued Professional Development (CPD)

Upgrade your skills with continued professional development

Learning doesn’t stop once your certificate is framed on the wall... At the IAB, we help you:

  • Build on what you’ve achieved so far
  • Stay at the very top of your game
  • Boost your earning potential

This is where full membership comes into its own. Aside from a wealth of special privileges, the opportunity to enhance professional standards is what attracts thousands of like-minded people to the IAB.

Be the best you can

Want to achieve your minimum 30 hours CPD per year? It’s easy at the IAB. Take your pick from a choice of proactive and reactive activities through the year:

Proactive learning includes: workshops, CPD events, online courses and network meetings

To accrue reactive points, you might: read journals or newsletters to stay on top of current trends, read online forums, chat to peers about technical issues – to name but a few.

Remember: one hour’s learning equals one CPD point. With constant advice, resources and events on offer every year, you can keep learning at your own pace.

Are you a member in practice?

If so, you must continue professional development by law to maintain your standards. A Certificate of Supervision, Compliance or Practising Certificate renewal can only be granted if you have kept records.

Your portfolio could include:

  • Receipts for learning materials/courses
  • Attendance or completion certificates
  • Diary entries noting dates/times/learning

For an easy way to log your CPD points, just download a record sheet here. Equally, for more advice, you can always get in touch with our membership department, who are more than happy to answer your questions. or 01732 897750
