AIA Tax Update Seminar – London

May 22 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

The Association of International Accountants (AIA) has arranged a Tax Update seminar.

The yearly ‘tax calendar’ has recently changed, with a new Budget cycle, automation of some aspects of tax compliance, and developments in data protection rules. New timings for tax will be discussed, as well as some potential pitfalls. There will be an overview of key developments in the Autumn 2017 Budget and Spring Statement of 2018, some thoughts on the challenges posed by Brexit and devolution within the United Kingdom and suggestions to help small businesses and their clients keep up with changes.

Technological developments in the relationship between HMRC, taxpayers, and advisers will be covered, with a review of the point tax compliance technology has reached and some tips on making the most of free online resources available. In addition there will be the latest on HMRC’s ‘Making Tax Digital’ initiative and discussion of whether ‘Simple Assessment’ will deliver what it promises, against a backdrop of increasingly complex tax legislation.
