CIMA and Flag It Up webinar on tackling money laundering

March 14 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

On 14th March, 2-3pm,  CIMA and the Flag It Up campaign will be teaming up to run a free webinar aimed at helping accountancy professionals, whether they are CIMA members or not, to further understand the risks posed to them by money laundering, and looking at how they can help to disrupt this threat.  Example cases and best practice guidance will be provided in helping them to do so.

As an industry, accountancy is at particular risk of being exploited by criminals, in order to attempt to legitimise the proceeds of crime. A collective response is the most effective way to tackle the threat, and accordingly, the webinar will focus on understanding the money laundering risk and the consequences of involvement, as well as the importance of submitting quality Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and how this information is used by law enforcement agencies.

The webinar will be presented by Elaine Smyth Senior Manager – Professional Standards, Association of International Certified Professional Accountants; Barry Dovey, Managing Director of BDCMA Accountants Ltd and member of CIMA’s Member in Practice Panel; and Tony Fitzpatrick, Engagement & Liaison Officer, National Crime Agency. They will be drawing upon their significant experience in this field from a regulatory, front-line and law enforcement perspective to provide a deep level of insight for participants.

Please follow this link if you wish to register for the webinar.
