Topic 1: Employment Law – Sejal Raja, RadcliffesLeBrasseur
The current hot topic in employment law is the concept of worker status in the “gig economy”. Sejal Raja, Head of Employment at RadcliffesLeBrasseur, will consider a string of recent decisions dealing with the status of self-employed contractors.
Topic 2: Topical tax issues for OMBs – Paul Howard, Gabelle
This session will provide participants with some of the key tax issues to be aware of when advising clients and a number of vital planning points. It will be practical and informative, allowing delegates to keep up to date with tax legislation and practice, as well as reminders of some of the key reliefs available.
Topic 3: Cyber Fraud and SMEs – Anthony McGhie, Barclays
The world is moving online, SMEs and small practitioners need to be aware of the risks and to take action to mitigate those risks. This session will cover, cyber threats and how to protect your business.
Topic 4:Making Tax Digital update
Topic 5: Getting to grips with smaller entity reporting, FRS 105 and FRS 102 – Laura Tibbets and Neil Parsons, Grant Thornton
Although being billed as simplifying financial reporting for smaller entities, the new accounting regimes for both small companies and micro-entities are providing some unique challenges as well as causing some confusion in practice. This useful practical session uses the micro-entities accounting regime as a focus point, provides a useful overview of the new small companies accounting regime, explains the key differences between these two regimes and the legal requirements and more.
